Who we are

We are a research group at the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute (HDSI), UC San Diego, led by Professor Soohyun Nam Liao. We are a group of student researchers and developers working at the intersection of educational data mining, human-centered AI, and computing education. Our mission is to design and evaluate data-driven and AI-powered systems that support student learning, promote metacognition, and enhance learning experiences in computing courses.
